Time couldn't go fast enough these past few days counting down to our 20 week ultrasound that was really happening at week 21. But finally we entered the doctors office only to have to wait several hours (okay, it felt like hours, but was only 10-20 minutes, and we were early!) to hear our name to be called back into one of the rooms.
Once in the room we got to see the baby's head, its' feet, listen to the heartbeat (still only one, I am still hoping the mother will have one at some point), see the four chambers beating, the spinal cord, the femur, the kidneys, the bladder, the liver, and all aspects you could ever think of that were completely impossible to make out through fuzzy black and white, but we were assured by the operator that those were indeed the actual parts of the baby's body. Oh yeah, we saw the arms too, so our baby does have two arms and two legs and two hands and two feet, but only one head.
The rest of the visit was uninteresting as we were escorted back to the waiting room and then had to wait again to see the actual doctor for the routine checkup of which we discussed the ultrasound and the excitement it contained.
For your enjoyment, here are the ultrasound photos:
