This past month seemed to go by faster than the rest (maybe because we were SO busy, but I don't think that is the only reason). Brianne has effectively learned more than what we realized, from numbers, to time, to much more.
Whilst driving, I got an insight as to what Mommy has been teaching Brianne. We're driving down the road and I begin to slow down for a traffic light, when from behind my seat, I hear "Red means Stop", when the light turns green, that familiar voice chimes "Green means Go!". A bit surprised, I decided to try and throw off my daughter by asking what yellow meant, to which I got the immediate reply "Yellow means slow down." Guess I should be lucky that Mommy taught her to refer to yellow as slow down instead of speed up! :P
Also while driving we've been working with Brianne on learning her left and right. As we make turns, she'll tell us if we are going left or right, sometimes she gets it wrong, but there are plenty of times she gets it right. Within a few more weeks, she'll likely have that down. The hardest part about teaching right and left is not answering her using the word "right" when she is correct! Now I understand why many people think the English language is difficult!
The latest show to catch our daughter's attention is now Curious George. That monkey gets in all sorts of trouble! His curiosity is starting to rub off on our daughter too. As we walk through a store, restaurant, wherever, our daughter will casually ask each person she sees "What are you doing?" usually followed up with "Why?" Thankfully each person thus far has been more than happy to answer her and occasionally take the time to explain why they are doing it.
Brianne at least shows a good sense of responsibility, she has consistently kept up with her flowers ensuring they get watered and are growing. She ask us if she can water her flowers, and we'll tell her you can do that at 6 o'clock, and she'll come back to us every so often to see if it is time to go out and water them.
This past month we got to see a lot of family as we made our rounds through Findlay and North Baltimore over Memorial Day weekend. Brianne made sure everyone was kept busy as she played, ran around, colored, talked their ears off, and so on. While visit family in North Baltimore, she was sure to identify items that were big, bigger, and biggest for her Auntie Amber and also made herself disappear from Mommy and Daddy's eyesight plenty of times (thank you to everyone who was there for keeping an eye on here when we didn't have one).
Last but not least, last month Brianne and Mommy had the following
conversation, which is just too good for me not to share.
Mommy: Brianne, you need to go take a nap and then we can go to the
library.
(Brianne goes in and lays down for a few minutes)
Brianne: Mommy, I took a nap.
Mommy: No, you didn't. You were only in there a few minutes.
Brianne: I took a two minute nap. :)
Mommy: That wasn't a long enough nap.
I guess Mommy will learn to start being specific on the length of the nap from here on out! Well, that was our recent month of adventures with Brianne and we can't wait to see everyone again when the opportunity presents itself.
Love,
Matt, Kami, Brianne, and Keaten
