Brianne has been waiting for spring to arrive more than anyone I know! She has desperately wanted to be able to play outside for weeks. When the temperature finally warmed up she jetted outside and went straight to playing. Keaten and her have spent many hours playing in the sandbox with each other. Keaten playing by himself, Brianne dumping sand on Keaten's head... ah the memories.
Prior to spring arriving Brianne was constantly playing in the garage with the washer and dryer houses I built for them. When it came to creating the houses, she was there telling me what her house needed. It needed a door with a window on it and a doggy door. It had to have a window on the side of the house, etc. As her house started to appear, her excitement grew until it could barely be contained. Once it was completed, she, along with her brother, took chalk to their houses to give them some color.
Then there was Easter. Just like last year, our daughter was excited. She loves going through the resurrection eggs, the bible stories she has in her Sunday School class up to it, and of course hunting for Easter eggs. She loved seeing the sand sculpture at the Findlay Fairgrounds, spending time at Grandpa Franks and Grandma Claudettes for lunch and an Easter egg hunt. She just loves that time of the year.
Just like her brother, Brianne had her first "real" haircut/trim this past month. We had her hair trimmed to get rid of split ends and then layered her straight hair so her curls would be more pronounced. I must say, it looks really good and just like her brother, she did fantastic.
One thing that did surprise us was how jealous she got when she saw Keaten with his toy mower. She was so jealous, we ended up getting her one too and boy does she love it! His is red and blue, and hers is pink and purple. Those two would run their mowers through the lawn leaving a trail of bubbles just enjoying their chance to be like Daddy.
This past month our precious daughter has been into her "princess" dresses (every dress is a princess dress). Of course, what footwear compliments such a beautiful dress best? Rain boots of course! I kid you not, she would wear nothing else but rain boots. Princess sandals? No way! Those can't compare to the beauty and sophistication that rain boots imply.
Unfortunately, Mommy and Brianne were in the ER for 3 hours one evening because she was having troubles breathing. She was wheezing. She ended up having acute bronchiolitis, an inflammation of the lungs, and had to undergo breathing treatments for a few days. She just had her doctor's checkup and has been given the all clear indicating she is on the up swing now and doing well from a recovery standpoint.
We also started up date night again! Brianne and I locked ourselves in our room, watched a movie and ate popcorn. To say she enjoyed it would be an understatement as she has already asked to do it again! What was the movie, you ask? Well, this is what makes me the proudest so far.... it was Spiderman! Yes, this geeky dad is more excited than ever that his daughter is seeking geeky shows/movies now. I couldn't be more proud.
Speaking of movies, our daughter has now quoted the movie Frozen in several different contexts. She gets that trait honest. From her Papa and her Dad, she has picked up one of the great traits of man-kind. This is one trait I will nurture relentlessly, so you have all been warned!
Last but not least, I got a glimpse in the future the other day when Brianne had a play date with a few friends. I was diligently working when Brianne and her friend Morgan came down and informed me they were pregnant. Yes, you read that right, they were pregnant. It was more than an hour later, they both had baby girls and I became and Grandpa... Words can't describe the emotions that welled up inside me as the news broke out. I faintly remember yelling up to Kami that Mountain Dew was no longer a strong enough drink for me anymore. All I know is I am grateful that I still have many years before that day officially arrives and Brianne, when you start to read this, this is why you were not able to date until you turned 20.
Until next time, enjoy these photos from this past month.
Love,
Matt, Kami, Brianne and Keaten
