Hello Summer! Goodbye to Pre-K

I know what you are thinking. School is over already?!? Unfortunately, it that seems to be the case. It just seems like yesterday we got her dressed, got her back pack ready, and took her to school for her very first day. I'm not sure where the time went or how it passed so quickly, but the impression this school year left on her life has been nothing short of extraordinary. From a person who really wasn't certain in her abilities when it came to counting, the alphabet, and recognizing words, we now have a confident little girl who can not only do those things, but can form sentences and write them.

Mrs. Julie and Mrs. Tonya have no idea the impact they have had on not just this little girl, but the little girl's family too. We owe a lot of gratitude to them for the time and commitment they put forth into teaching Brianne and we'll be forever grateful. This girl, although excited to graduate Pre-K, is a bit disappointed that it is over all too quickly. Even though she is excited for summer, I think she is more excited for Kindergarten, which had its registration on April 16th.

Speaking of summer, Brianne is super excited now that we've set up the pool. We've only really had one nice day to use it, but that didn't stop the kids from wanting to jump in this last Sunday when it was in the low 70s. Our pool is pretty decent size, at 10 feet by 6 feet and can hold an astounding 264 gallons of water (if we choose to fill it that high) and Brianne loves it! She loves to "swim laps", splish and splash, and well ... just get wet! After all that is what it ultimately comes down to, she just wants to be in the water. Here is to hoping we have warmer weather again soon, as if we don't we're bound to have a disappointed little girl.

Let's not forget about water's arch-nemesis, sand. Yep, we've got a new sand box. The old kiddie pool turned into a sand box was just not working (especially after the winter and early spring showers). The sand box with a proper lid, new sand, has been a hit. We just hope it won't be a hit after they've been in the pool (or before for that matter!).

Of course, summer is not summer without a garden! We've gone with our container garden again this year and have it in full swing! From tomatoes, jalapenos, cilantro, strawberries, bell peppers, cucumbers, and zucchini, we're ready! We're also considering making a potato box, but haven't quite decided on that yet. Brianne received a garden kit from Grandma Claudette and I believe it has green beans and carrots in it, so we've got those to transfer into larger containers when the time is right too.

Since the last update, we've had several play dates with friends Brianne had in her Pre-K class. Just a couple of weeks ago, we had a grill out at our place with her friend Sophie and her family. The kids played while the adults got to chat. Over Easter we went to one of Brianne's BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) friends house and they had an Easter Egg hunt after lunch. There are many more play dates already scheduled, one is involving Strawberry picking, several have involved the zoo and so forth.

Brianne also got to go visit a lot of family over Memorial Day weekend, as we visited graduation parties, family, and friends up north. Brianne had a fantastic time. She got to swim in the hotel swimming pool, got to see both sets of grandparents and enjoy their company, got to jump on the trampoline at her Uncle Chuck's, and so much more!

Oh, and let's not forget about Brianne's newest cousin, Judah, who arrived on April 7th. Brianne was excited to go up north to see him.

Well that was a lot to cover and hopefully the next update won't be so far apart! Phew, I've got to get these happening on a more consistent basis again. Until next time, please enjoy the following photos.

Love,
Matthew, Kami, Brianne and Keaten
